Our Story
Emma and Nick met the old-fashioned way – through a mutual friend* who, after consuming significantly more than the recommended daily intake of Louis Roederer decided they would be perfect together. Turns out, impaired or not, she was right...After Emma moved from NZ to Brisbane in 2020, just as COVID hit, she and Nick were set up and agreed to meet for drinks – both assuming, because of circumstances, it would be for a good time, not a long time.Fate, however, had other plans. They hit it off immediately - so much so, that neither Nick's outfit choices, surgical persuasion, nor his Queensland accent were enough to put Emma off.Emma stayed on to continue her Vascular training in Brisbane, and Nick, now unable to travel internationally for his fellowship, completed it in Australia. This allowed for many more drinks and time spent together and it wasn’t long before they both realised this was the real deal and they set about building a life together.Emma and Nick love to travel and after many (and I mean many), holidays where Emma thought “it” might happen, Nick proposed on the beach at the Gold Coast – a place they loved to visit together.Now, along with their two beautiful ANZAC girls and “rescue” cat Pip, Emma and Nick have made their home in Brisbane, however NZ will always have a special place in their story.For that reason, they chose to marry in Queenstown—a place they both love visiting, have had incredible shared adventures, and where they look forward to making many more memories in the years ahead.*Full credit to Samantha Peden

Kirstie ODONNELL
Kirstie is the kind of person who makes everything look effortless: her home, her outfits and her remarkable ability to convince you that, yes, you absolutely do need that. A GP by training and a domestic aesthete by nature, she has quietly mastered the art of doing three people’s jobs at once—which seems fitting, given she essentially produced three people in what felt like a long weekend. Loyal, thoughtful, and endlessly dependable, Kirstie has been Emma’s trusted coffee companion, sounding board, and chief financial enabler since they met in Dunedin in their first year of university. She stands beside Emma as Maid of Honour in the truest sense: someone who has shown up in every way that matters for more than two decades.Maid of Honor

Where Kirstie offers every reason to spend, Immy is the one quietly raising an eyebrow at the price tag. Practical, no-nonsense, and refreshingly immune to lifestyle creep, she is the friend who will lovingly but firmly remind you that triple-digit hand soap is still, in fact, just soap. An Obstetrician and Gynaecologist by training—which means she has seen things and remains entirely unrattled—Immy has been a steadfast presence in Emma’s life for as long as Kirstie, which is to say long enough to tell it exactly how it is. A food and wine enthusiast of considerable pedigree (full credit to her wonderful dad James), she is also known to be devoted to gymnastics and Dance Moms, reflecting her appreciation for both discipline and a good time. The OG mum of two boys, including Emma’s godson, Otis, Immy was mastering the juggle of being a working mum long before Emma knew what “let-down” was.Bridesmaid
Every family needs a Kate – patient, kind, conscientious, and possessed of a warmth that makes her universally well liked – qualities that are all the more impressive given she spent her formative years being systematically tormented by her older sister. Emma and Kate have always been chalk and cheese, Emma makes decisions with alarming (over) confidence, while Kate thoughtfully considers every option, then usually asks someone else to decide. Now Melbourne based, Kate is the sort of person everyone gravitates towards and what she lacks in decisiveness, she makes up for in heart. Her three nieces are the lucky recipients of what can only be described as world class aunty energy – the kind that involves genuine presence, unconditional enthusiasm and very good gifts! She loves her animals, a good time, and a cold glass of, well, anything!Bridesmaid

Robert Morrow is the sort of friend everyone should have. Steadfast to the point of annoyance. You just wish the chat was a little better... Bob now calls Australia home after moving from Canada for medical school in Brisbane. Bob’s been a past-housemate, frequent co-conspirator and occasionally kept up with partying during medical school. Despite his advanced age appearance, he retains a youthful vigour, that often comes into full effect with chat about ice hockey, NFL, wineries, QLD beer and fishing. Highly recommended to have a beer with, unless you’ve already had the pleasure, in which case, best to avoid.Best Man

A man of many words, all of them amazing, if you listen to Al recount the story. Hammo has been a regular fixture in a lot of the adventures from medical school at UQ onwards. A keen hiker, costume-enthusiast, average piano-player, woeful trivia player and a great mate. Partial to a red wine and a tie on the head at big events.Groomsman
Phil JORGENSEN
Nick’s younger brother has been a part of a lot of Nick’s earliest memories and adventures. He now calls Berlin home with his family, and whilst some of the German peculiarities have rubbed off on him, he’s still a proud Queenslander. Slightly shorter, though admittedly with wilder hair, Phil is a spirited conversationalist (in dual languages), attempted DJ (in Berlin-techno) and contemporary Europhile.Groomsman
